Italy launches regional initiatives to combat youth addiction and violence

Various regional initiatives in Italy are focusing on the prevention of addiction and psychological distress among adolescents.

In Lecce, the Order of Physicians, Surgeons, and Dentists is organizing a conference titled ‘Addictions and Violence’ as part of the ‘Health Marathon’. Scheduled for October 20, 2026, the event aims to bring together healthcare professionals, magistrates, educators, and students to discuss the links between addiction—including substance abuse and pathological gambling—and violent behavior. The discussion will also address emotional management, behavioral disorders, and the role of schools in early detection.

In Rogliano, the ‘Armonia 2026’ program hosted the ‘Conscious Connections’ workshop. This initiative, promoted by the Armonia Family Center and supported by the Calabria Region, utilizes participatory methods to educate minors about the risks of psychotropic substances. The project seeks to foster dialogue between families, schools, and socio-sanitary services to create a community-wide network for prevention.
