Italy launches regional health initiatives for elderly and dementia support

Various regional initiatives across Italy are launching to support elderly populations and individuals living with dementia.

In Cortemilia, the Alzheimer Café is being introduced as a dedicated space for people with dementia, their families, and caregivers to share experiences and combat social isolation. This initiative is part of the Progetto Ponte, a collaborative effort involving Asl CN2 and several local social and healthcare partners.

In Busto Arsizio, the association A Casa di Bartolo APS is launching ‘Un sorso di cura’, a free magazine designed to provide information and support to those affected by dementia while working to reduce social stigma.

Other programs focus on active aging for those over 65. The ‘Generazione Gold – Attivati!’ project in the Province of Lecco offers free socialization, digital training, and cognitive exercises. Similarly, the ‘Attivi Insieme’ project in Mandas aims to promote longevity through physical movement, creative workshops, and community participation to prevent isolation.
