Italy launches youth initiatives for community and landscape engagement

Various youth-led initiatives are being launched across Italy to foster community engagement and environmental stewardship. In the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato UNESCO wine landscapes, the first “Hack the landscape” hackathon recently concluded in Bra. The event brought together fifty students from the provinces of Cuneo, Asti, and Alessandria to propose creative solutions for the future of the territory, focusing on themes such as environment, digital innovation, community, and mobility.

On a national scale, the “GenerAzione Attiva” project has been launched to involve 2,000 children aged 11 to 14 across 40 Italian territories. Coordinated by AiCS in partnership with several cultural and sporting federations, the 18-month initiative is funded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies. The program aims to empower youth through sport, culture, and social tourism, specifically targeting those facing educational poverty or socio-economic fragility to build stronger local educational communities.
