Italy launches youth reading survey in Trieste and silent reading parties in Ravenna
The Biblioteca Civica Attilio Hortis in Trieste has started an online survey titled “Pagina dopo Pagina” to examine the cultural and reading habits of young people aged 10 to 20. The questionnaire, accessible until 12 July 2026, was designed with the participation of secondary‑school students and aims to inform future cultural initiatives in the city.
In the province of Ravenna, libraries are hosting “silent reading parties” as part of the regional “Patto per la lettura”. Free events will take place on 25 June at Casa Varoli in Cotignola and on 8 September at the Giuliano Baioni library in Voltana, encouraging participants to read silently together and disconnect from digital devices.
Both initiatives seek to promote reading as a fundamental right and to counter educational inequalities among youth in Italy.
