Multiple incidents of violence against law enforcement officers have been reported across Italy, prompting calls for increased security and structural reforms.

In the Cavadonna prison in Syracuse, the OSAPP union reported two separate assaults on prison officers in a single day. One superintendent was punched in the face by an inmate, and another officer was struck in the eye while attempting to manage a group of inmates refusing to return to their cells. The union described the situation as a “total collapse of security” within the facility, citing issues such as overcrowding and poor sanitary conditions.

In Rovellasca, a local police commander, Diego Monopoli, was hospitalized with multiple facial and chest fractures after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to stop a suspect at a checkpoint. The CISL FP union has called for urgent reforms to the Local Police, noting that officers are operating with outdated laws and insufficient resources.

Additionally, a State Police officer was assaulted while on duty at the Avellino hospital. The hospital's strategic management expressed solidarity with the officer and emphasized the necessity of maintaining a police presence to protect healthcare workers in high-tension environments like emergency rooms.
