Italy logistics sector faces massive Black Friday parcel surge

The Italian logistics sector is preparing for a significant peak in shipping volumes during the Black Friday period. According to estimates from the Netcomm B2C eCommerce Observatory at Politecnico di Milano, approximately 44.3 million parcels are expected to circulate between November 19 and December 1, 2026.

This volume represents 4.8% of the total annual parcel movement, marking a 6.6% increase compared to the previous year. The period is expected to see 27.4 million online shoppers spending an estimated 4.3 billion euros.

Logistics operators and last-mile delivery services face increased pressure as the promotional season expands beyond a single day. The surge will require enhanced sorting, transport, and distribution capacities, particularly within urban centers and high-density shopping areas.
