Italy manages migrant repatriations and rising arrivals in Sardinia
Authorities in Italy are managing both the repatriation of irregular migrants and a surge in new arrivals. In a coordinated operation with Frontex, 13 North African nationals were repatriated via charter flight. Most of these individuals had criminal records for crimes against persons or property. One individual was specifically expelled by the Minister of the Interior for state security and terrorism prevention reasons due to the systematic dissemination of content inciting violence against European citizens and institutions.
Simultaneously, migration pressure continues in Sardinia, where 103 migrants recently arrived on the Sulcis coast. This brings the total number of arrivals to nearly 400 within a three-day period. The arrivals, which include women and minors, have been transferred to the Monastir hotspot for identification. Local officials have expressed concern regarding the overcrowding of reception centers and the impact on regional security and management.
