Italy marks 82nd Liberation anniversary with events in Figline and Pratomagno

On 27 July, towns in Tuscany marked the 82nd anniversary of Italy’s liberation from Nazi‑fascist occupation. In Figline, the municipal government of Figline e Incisa Valdarno, together with ANPI – Sezione Aronne Cavicchi and the Association “27 Luglio”, organized a ceremony that included the ringing of bells, a wreath‑laying and speeches by Mayor David Ermini and council president Gionata Vignolini. Ermini stressed the need to remember the victims of wartime massacres and to defend democratic values.

In the Pratomagno mountains, a day‑long commemoration featured a hike to the “Il Fiore del Partigiano” monument, the laying of a wreath, and a cultural conference titled “Pratomagno: crossroads of memory and resilience”. Speakers included Leno Chisci (ANPI provincial president), historian Giorgio Sacchetti, former minister Valdo Spini – president of the Fondazione Circolo Rosselli – and regional assessor Filippo Boni. The event highlighted the mountain’s role as a partisan stronghold during the resistance.
