Italy marks bicentenary of Carlo Collodi and Pinocchio
Various institutions in Italy are hosting events to commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of Carlo Collodi, the author of the world-renowned classic ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio’.
In Montichiari, the Casa Bianca Day Center will host a meeting titled ‘It is the story of Pinocchio. Long nose and round head’ on October 22. The event will feature journalists Marzia Borzi and Federico Migliorati, who will discuss Collodi’s life and his connection to the 1972 film adaptation. The program includes an exhibition of antique and modern books, comics, and memorabilia.
Additionally, Collegio Ghislieri is organizing a three-part series titled ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio. Two hundred years with Collodi’, running from October 21 to December 2. The first session, ‘Elogio della metamorfosi. Pinocchio e le immagini’, will feature director Roberto Catani and professor Daniele Dottorini. They will discuss the metamorphosis of the character from literature to cinema, specifically focusing on Catani’s animated film ‘The Puppet and the Whale’.
