Italy marks historical anniversaries in Gemona and Florence
In Italy, various commemorative events are marking significant historical anniversaries. In Gemona, Confartigianato Imprese Udine and Pordenone organized a conference titled ‘The Hands of Rebirth’ to observe the 50th anniversary of the 1976 earthquake. The event focused on the role of craftsmanship in the region's reconstruction and issued an appeal to young people to take over artisan businesses, emphasizing the importance of creativity and professional skills in the era of digitalization and AI.
In Florence, the Italian Red Cross (CRI) is organizing commemorations for the 60th anniversary of the 1966 flood that impacted Florence and Tuscany. Through a partnership with the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Florence, and the University of Florence, the CRI will host an exhibition and study day near the Santa Maria Novella station. The initiative includes a historical-documentary exhibition running from October 30 to November 30, as well as an exhibition of emergency vehicles and interactive spaces in November to showcase the evolution of rescue technologies and humanitarian response.
