Italy marks retirement of Carabinieri officer and passing of local historian

Enzo Re, a Special Rank Lieutenant of the Carabinieri, has retired following a 40-year military career. After joining in September 1986, Re served in various locations including Nicosia, Montemurlo, and Calabria. He notably commanded the Gimigliano station from 1994 to 1999 and served as a key figure in the Mistretta Carabinieri Company for over two decades. His career was marked by several honors, including the Maurizian Medal and the Gold Medal for Long Command.

In San Terenzo, the community is mourning the passing of Alfredo Lupi, known as ‘Sio Ca’’, at the age of 88. A former city councilor and local historian, Lupi was a significant cultural figure in the Lerici area. Local officials, including the Mayor of Lerici, recognized his deep connection to the territory and his contributions to local traditions. A farewell service is scheduled for August 27 at the church in San Terenzo.
