Italy marks World Physiotherapy Day 2026 with health initiatives

To mark World Physiotherapy Day on September 8, 2026, various initiatives in Italy will focus on the role of physiotherapy in health prevention and rehabilitation. The theme for the year is ‘At the heart we command. Physiotherapy for cardiovascular health,’ highlighting the profession's contribution to managing cardiovascular diseases, which cause over 20.5 million deaths annually.

In Rome, the Order of Physiotherapists of Lazio (OFI Lazio) will host events on September 8 and 9. This includes an information stand in Piazza del Popolo on September 8 to engage with citizens regarding the importance of physiotherapy in maintaining autonomy and quality of life.

Additionally, Fondazione Sospiro ETS in Sospiro will offer free personalized screening sessions on September 8. These assessments will cover neck pain, back pain, joint mobility, and fall prevention, particularly for the elderly, to identify postural imbalances and risk factors early.
