Italy: Meloni government reforms Red Cross auxiliary corps

The Italian government, led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, has approved a legislative decree reforming the auxiliary corps of the Italian Red Cross. A key component of this reform is the official renaming of the voluntary nurses of the Italian Red Cross to “crocerossine” in all official documents. This change follows nearly two years of legislative development.

During the same Council of Ministers meeting, the government also addressed several other matters. These included initiating new appointments for the National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC), approving a legislative decree on air quality, and authorizing funds for regions affected by severe weather. Additionally, the government decided to challenge a law in the Veneto region concerning medically assisted suicide.
