Italy Ministry of Culture faces labor disputes over worker stabilization

Labor disputes are escalating within the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC) regarding the employment status of hundreds of workers. A committee representing 321 professionals, hired through a national public selection process, has reported that these employees remain without permanent stabilization despite completing their service terms. The workers, who hold various roles including officials and assistants, have highlighted a perceived disparity compared to the Ministry of Justice, where similar employees were granted permanent status.

Simultaneously, tensions are rising at Ales – Arte Lavoro e Servizi S.p.A. National secretariats have requested urgent meetings with the Minister to discuss critical issues related to organizational restructuring, personnel policies, and the management of fixed-term contracts. These discussions are prompted by a recent strategic directive from the Ministry of Culture that outlines programmatic lines for the company, including PNRR-related interventions. Labor representatives have expressed concerns regarding the practical implementation of these directives and their impact on job security and professional reallocation.
