Italy mobility sector addresses technological shifts and payment security
The Italian public transport sector is navigating a period of significant transformation, balancing rapid technological advancements with resource shortages and labor market challenges. Asstra, representing 144 mobility and transport companies in Italy, will host its 20th national conference in Rome on October 21 and 22, 2026. The event will address critical issues regarding economy, labor, regulation, and innovation within the sector.
Parallel to these structural discussions, the rise of digital mobility has placed a premium on payment security and data protection. At a recent Agorà Netgroup event, industry leaders from Netgroup and Telepass discussed the necessity of maintaining user trust through secure end-to-end transactions. Telepass reported managing approximately 1.5 billion payment transactions and 10 billion total transactions annually, highlighting its evolution into a digital platform for various personal and automotive mobility services.
