Italy mortgage financing trends for Q1 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, Italian families received a total of 12,754 million euros in mortgage financing, representing a 2.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.

Lombardy remains the leading region for mortgage activity in Italy, accounting for 3,185.9 million euros, or approximately 24.98% of the national total. Despite this dominance, the region saw a 1.4% decline in financing compared to the first quarter of 2025.

Regional trends within Lombardy varied significantly. In Pavia, mortgage volumes rose by 9.1% to 111.3 million euros. Conversely, Cremona saw a 10.9% decrease to 66.7 million euros, and Lodi experienced a sharp 17% decline, totaling 55.4 million euros.
