Daniela Ferrari, mother of Andrea Sempio, hospitalized after suicide attempt

66‑year‑old Daniela Ferrari, the mother of Andrea Sempio – the man investigated for the Garlasco murder of Chiara Poggi – was admitted to the hospital in Vigevano after ingesting a large amount of tranquilizers. She was first transferred to intensive care and later to the resuscitation unit, where doctors reported her condition as stable and not life‑threatening.

The family’s lawyers, Liborio Cataliotti and Angela Taccia, confirmed that the overdose was a suicide attempt and called on the public and media to reduce hostile messages on social networks. They described the incident as a “warning bell” about the damaging effect of online hatred on people indirectly involved in the investigation.

The mother’s distress has been linked to the intense media scrutiny surrounding the case, which has been under a renewed judicial inquiry in Pavia. Previous hospitalisations and testimonies as a witness have been reported. Andrea Sempio remains under investigation for aggravated murder, with the presumption of innocence pending a final verdict.
