Italy motorcycle thefts reach 136,000 in 2024

In 2024, Italy experienced a high rate of motorcycle and scooter thefts, averaging nearly 90 thefts per day. According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, over 136,000 two-wheeled vehicles were stolen throughout the year.

Regional data shows that Lazio recorded the highest number of motorcycle thefts with 5,985 incidents, followed by Campania with 5,167 and Lombardy with 4,178. When focusing on mopeds and scooters, Sicily reported the highest number of thefts with 1,328 cases, followed by Campania and Lombardy.
