Italy mourns death of psychologist Roberto Zonta and football president Giancarlo Franceschini

Roberto Zonta, an 83‑year‑old psychologist and professor who taught philosophy and psychology in Bassano del Grappa and Padua, died in late July 2026. He founded the Centro di Educazione Permanente (CEP) in Bassano and authored numerous psychology texts. His funeral is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on 29 July at the Santa Croce church in Bassano.

Giancarlo Franceschini, a 72‑year‑old former footballer, coach and long‑time president of the amateur club USd Don Bosco Spezia, also passed away in July 2026. Known for his involvement in local television and his dedication to youth sport, Franceschini's funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on 29 July in the Nostra Signora della Neve church in La Spezia, with burial at the Boschetti cemetery.
