Verona and Calusco d'Adda advance new bridge projects

In Verona, officials presented the Avesa bridge project on 30 June. The one‑way road bridge will replace a crossing closed for five years, adding a 2.5 m bike‑pedestrian lane and a raised sidewalk. The work, costing €1.3 million—€1.2 million from the municipal budget surplus and €100 000 from earmarked funds—will be carried out under the 2025‑2027 public works plan.

In Calusco d'Adda, a public conference on 2 July gathered experts, local officials and citizens to discuss the location of a new Adda bridge that will link the provinces of Bergamo and Lecco. While the railway operator RFI sees the bridge as essential for regional connectivity, the Rete Occhio al Ponte and heritage groups warn that the proposed site could damage the historic San Michele bridge and the surrounding landscape. The forum aims to balance transport needs with environmental and cultural preservation.
