Italy national football team faces scrutiny after loss to Belgium

Former Italian goalkeeper Dino Zoff and analyst Giorgio Perinetti have commented on the current state of the Italy national football team following a 2-0 defeat against Belgium.

Zoff addressed criticisms regarding player selection, specifically defending veteran players like Nicolò Barella and Giovanni Di Lorenzo. He argued that the best players should be considered for the national team regardless of age and expressed belief in manager Roberto Mancini, noting that while the current situation is difficult, it presents an opportunity for growth.

Perinetti emphasized the need for long-term structural changes, suggesting that Italy must improve its youth academy training to match the quality seen in nations like Belgium. He noted that while Mancini can do what he can, systemic improvements from the bottom up are necessary to secure future results.
