Italy national football team seeks new head coach as salary offers are slashed

Former Napoli manager Antonio Conte is being linked to the role, but reports indicate any contract would be considerably lower than his previous €8 million‑plus annual earnings, with the FIGC reportedly willing to offer around €4.1 million per year.

Other names mentioned include former players and coaches such as Beppe Bergomi, Paolo Maldini, Billy Costacurta, Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti. FIGC president Giovanni Malagò stresses the need for a low‑cost appointment and is assessing both financial and sporting criteria before making a decision.
