Italy opens heritage sites to mark 10 years since Central Italy earthquake

To mark the tenth anniversary of the 2016 earthquake in Central Italy, the Italian Ministry of Culture has launched the “A dieci anni dal sisma (2016–2026)” campaign. This initiative aims to highlight the long-term strategies and actions taken to protect and conserve the nation’s cultural heritage following the seismic events.

As part of the program, the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape for the provinces of Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, and Macerata is opening several construction sites and heritage sites to the public. These locations, including Palazzo Filoni in Servigliano, are typically inaccessible. The openings allow visitors to observe the complex process of restoration, from emergency stabilization to the final recovery and return of cultural assets to their communities.

The project serves to demonstrate the daily mission of the Ministry and its Superintendencies, showcasing the research, study, and technical interventions required to safeguard historical sites.
