Italy orders asset seizures in Barletta bankruptcy fraud and Naples PNRR fund scam

A judge in Trani ordered a preventive seizure of assets worth more than €3.2 million from two companies linked to two Barletta individuals suspected of bankruptcy, fiscal crimes and money‑laundering. The Guardia di Finanza executed the seizure after uncovering that a newly created firm had fraudulently transferred the assets of the insolvent company, re‑employing the same premises, staff and business activity.

In the Naples‑Caserta area, the Guardia di Finanza, acting on a request from the Naples EPPO prosecutor, seized assets valued at about €305 500 belonging to five suspects. The investigation alleges that a Naples‑based company falsified its accounts to obtain a €300 000 grant from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Fund (PNRR) and then diverted the money to other purposes. Both cases remain in the preliminary investigation phase.
