Italy plans AI and cloud incentives in industrial policy

Adolfo Urso, Italy’s Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, has outlined key industrial policy objectives to be included in the upcoming financial maneuver. The plan focuses on providing incentives for artificial intelligence and cloud computing to support the digital transition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

A primary goal is to make the ‘Nuovo Piano Transizione 5.0’ a structural pillar of national economic policy, ensuring long-term support for modernizing production processes. The minister also announced the creation of a ‘Business Wallet’—a digital tool for companies to centralize documents and credentials—and a reform of the artisan sector.

In a separate development regarding regional reindustrialization, Minister Urso confirmed that the aerospace giant Leonardo will act as an investor to relaunch the former Beko plant in Siena. This initiative, coordinated with Invitalia, the municipality of Siena, and trade unions, aims to ensure industrial continuity and employment in the area.
