Italy plans new transport bonus for 2027

The Italian government is planning a new transport bonus starting in 2027 as part of the Social Climate Plan. This measure aims to replace previous versions used in 2022 and 2023, focusing on promoting sustainable mobility and providing economic support to commuters and low-income households.

Unlike previous years, the new system is expected to move away from the 'click day' model. Instead, benefits will likely be allocated through a ranking system based on economic status and mobility needs. Proposed criteria include Isee levels (with thresholds around 20,000 euros), distance between home and work/study, car ownership, and previous use of public transport.

Under the proposed framework, annual contributions could range from 100 to 400 euros depending on the score achieved. The funds would act as a personal credit for local and regional public transport services. The implementing decree is expected by March 2027, following necessary consultations with the European Commission.
