Italy: Plaque unveiled for Marco Pannella and Meloni attends Milan Fashion Week

A commemorative plaque for former Radical Party leader Marco Pannella was unveiled at Palazzo Braschi in Piazza Navona on September 23. The ceremony was attended by Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, Francesco Rutelli, and Mirella Parachini. The location choice followed debate between those favoring the historic Radical Party headquarters and those supporting the Piazza Navona site.

Separately, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni attended the inaugural gala of Milan Fashion Week at Palazzo Reale. Meloni stated her presence was intended to show support for a sector that contributes significantly to the national economy. Her attendance drew criticism from opposition parties, such as Italia Viva and the Five Star Movement, who questioned her decision to attend the fashion event instead of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
