Italy prepares third INDIRE cycle for teacher support specialization
Discussions are underway regarding the third cycle of INDIRE training paths for specialization in educational support. These programs, intended for teachers with three years of service or those qualified abroad, allow for an abbreviated route to obtain the same qualifications as those completed via the TFA (Teaching Training Program). Mario Pittoni, National Head of the Education Department for the Lega, suggested that this third cycle could serve as the foundation for an updated recruitment mechanism. Current regulations allow these INDIRE paths to remain active until December 31, 2026.
Politically, there is a push for a dual recruitment channel to provide structural stability for precarious teachers and move beyond temporary measures and emergency competitions. This approach aims to address long-term job insecurity for educators.
In a related development for teacher qualification, the twelfth edition of 30 CFU (University Training Credits) enabling courses has opened for enrollment through eCampus. These courses are designed for teachers who already hold qualifications in one subject area or level of education and wish to qualify for a different subject or grade. Enrollment for these online weekend courses is open until November 6, 2026.
