Italy prioritizes global food security on World Food Day
On World Food Day, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani emphasized Italy’s commitment to combating hunger and promoting the right to food as a foundation for peace, stability, and sustainable development. Tajani highlighted that food security is an essential component of Italian international action, focusing on both emergency assistance and the strengthening of resilient supply chains.
Italy supports these efforts through its role as the host of the United Nations food and agriculture hub. Specific humanitarian initiatives include the ‘Food for Gaza’ program, which has provided approximately 2,400 tons of food, medical, and essential supplies to the Gaza Strip in collaboration with the FAO and WFP, and ‘Italy for Sudan,’ which has mobilized over 130 tons of humanitarian aid to address the crisis in Sudan.
