Italy private tutoring market shows rising costs and demand
A study by LeTueLezioni, a platform under the GoStudent group, reveals that the private tutoring market in Italy is experiencing steady growth. The research, which analyzed over 94,000 advertisements, highlights that tutoring costs vary significantly based on the subject, the student's level, the teacher's experience, and the geographic location.
In a departure from trends in other European countries, online and home-based lessons in Italy often cost more than in-person sessions due to the perceived value of convenience. For 14 of the 30 subjects analyzed, online rates were higher. For example, Italian for foreigners costs approximately 15 euros per hour online compared to 12 euros in person. Mathematics, English, and French also show a higher price differential for online instruction.
Geographically, Milan is identified as the most expensive market in Italy. The study notes that local cost of living, population density, and the balance of supply and demand are the primary drivers of regional price differences.
