Italy promotes sustainable tourism through new cultural festivals and hiking events

Various cultural and sustainable tourism initiatives are being launched in Italy to promote local heritage and slow travel.

In Caraglio, the new festival “Passaggi: dialoghi d'autore in vigne e giardini” will debut in October 2026. Organized by the Municipality of Caraglio with support from Fondazione CRC and the AFP Local Development Agency, the event combines literature, walking tours, and local tastings. The program aims to open private gardens and historical paths to the public, creating a sustainable tourism model that highlights the region's identity.

Additionally, the Ridracoli valley will host an excursion as part of the “Autunno Slow 2026” program within the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona, and Campigna. Scheduled for October 18, the 14-kilometer trek starts from the Ridracoli village and moves toward the dam and artificial basin. The event focuses on the natural landscape and local history, concluding with a tasting of typical products at Palazzo di Ridracoli.
