Italy: Prosecutors seek trials for armored car robbery and 'Ndrangheta murder

Italian prosecutors have moved forward with legal actions regarding two separate organized crime incidents.

In Carovigno, a prosecutor has requested an immediate trial for three men arrested during a July 1 attempted robbery of a Cosmopol armored van. The suspects, Cosimo Di Cesaria, Vincenzo Petronelli, and Gilberto Donno, face charges including attempted robbery, theft of a vehicle, and resisting public officials. During the arrest, authorities seized a professional robbery kit containing a pistol, a rifle, spiked strips, and disguises. Investigations continue regarding whether a security guard acted in self-defense after firing 15 shots at the suspects' vehicle.

In Milan, the Anti-Mafia District Directorate has requested a trial for several individuals accused of the year 2000 murder of Nicola Vivaldo. Prosecutors allege the killing was ordered by 'Ndrangheta leaders from the Gallace and Legnano-Lonate Pozzolo clans because Vivaldo was considered an informant. The indictment includes Vincenzo Gallace, identified as the mastermind, and Vincenzo Rispoli, who allegedly ordered the execution. Massimo Rosi is accused of being the gunman who shot Vivaldo in Rho.
