Italy qualifies for Premier12 after defeating Germany

The Italian national baseball team has qualified for the Premier12 tournament after defeating Germany 5-0 in the final decisive match of the qualification group in Barcelona. This victory follows a previous loss to Spain and secures Italy a pathway toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, as the highest-placing team from Europe or Oceania in the Premier12 will earn a direct spot.

Managed by Francisco Cervelli, the Italian team delivered a strong performance with 16 hits. Pitcher Giacomo Taschin led the defense with seven strikeouts over four innings, supported by relief pitchers Sireus, Fandino, Bocchi, Bassani, and Scotti, the latter of whom secured the win by preventing a German comeback. Under Cervelli, Italy has maintained a strong recent record, winning 14 of their last 17 official matches.
