Italy rail and metro services disrupted in Florence and Rome

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) began a major work programme on the Ponte al Pino bridge in Florence on 5 July at 23:00, scheduled to finish on 10 July at 04:00. The project requires the suspension of the Florence Campo di Marte–Firenze Rifredi and Florence Campo di Marte–Firenze Santa Maria Novella lines, cutting roughly half of the regular trains in the node. Long‑distance services will be rerouted via the Tirrenica line, with limited hourly connections and a bus link between the two Florence stations to maintain continuity.

Separately, Rome's Metro C line suffered an interruption on 4 July around noon, halting service between Malatesta and Colosseo. A supplemental bus service has been deployed along the affected corridor, while the outer segment from Pantano to Malatesta remains in operation. Both incidents have resulted in longer travel times and passenger inconvenience across the respective urban networks.
