Italy rail services suspended between Rome and Naples due to damage

Rail services on the Rome–Naples line via Formia and the Naples–Rome line via Cassino have been suspended following infrastructure damage. In one instance, a water network failure caused damage between Maddaloni and Cancello, while heavy rainfall and mud accumulation blocked tracks between Sezze Romano and Priverno.

Trenitalia has implemented several service modifications. Regional trains between Naples Centrale and Caserta are being diverted via Aversa or limited to Cancello. Intercity services may experience delays due to alternative routing. To assist passengers, bus replacement services have been activated between Caserta and Cancello, though travelers are warned of increased travel times due to road traffic and limited capacity.

Authorities expect a gradual restoration of service throughout the day, though the extent of the disruptions has caused significant delays for commuters and travelers heading toward Rome.
