Italy recruits Albanian seamstresses to combat textile labor shortages
Italian textile, clothing, and footwear factories are actively recruiting Albanian seamstresses to address a significant labor shortage. Recruitment agencies are offering positions in cities such as Pisa, Bergamo, and Perugia.
According to the job offers, candidates must be between 20 and 50 years old with at least one year of experience in Albania's garment subcontracting sector. The packages include net monthly wages starting at 1,300 euros, 13 annual payments, paid leave, and employer-provided accommodation.
Data from Unioncamere and the Italian Ministry of Labour indicate a widespread labor crisis. Italian companies project approximately 568,000 new hires for July 2026 and roughly 1.5 million hires between July and September. Within the textile and footwear sector specifically, the difficulty in finding workers is estimated at 56.2%. Overall, 42.6% of all predicted job openings in Italy are currently categorized as difficult to fill.
