Italy regional authorities invest millions in road infrastructure

Regional authorities in Italy have announced or completed significant road infrastructure projects aimed at improving safety and durability.

In Basilicata, a program agreement has been signed to implement the first four road interventions in the Vulture internal area. Funded by the Basilicata Region with 5.535 million euros through the 2021-2027 FESR FSE+ program, the works target the municipalities of Maschito, Ripacandida, Rionero in Vulture, and the Province of Potenza. Specific allocations include 1.235 million euros for Maschito, 650,000 euros for Ripacandida, 3.25 million euros for road upgrades connecting Atella and Rionero in Vulture, and 400,000 euros for the Province of Potenza.

In Friuli Venezia Giulia, the regional government has completed upgrades to two strategic roads in the Terzo di Aquileia area: the SR UD 8 ‘Aquileiense’ and the SR UD 81 ‘del Salmastro’. The 2.55 million euro investment utilized high-performance flexible and semi-rigid paving techniques designed to extend pavement lifespan from approximately 9 years to over 23 years. The project, managed by the Udine regional decentralization body, also included protective works to mitigate water damage in vulnerable areas.
