Italy regional authorities launch new human rights and migration policy initiatives
Regional authorities in Italy are launching new legislative and participatory initiatives focused on human rights, international cooperation, and migration management.
In one initiative, a new regional bill has been presented to over 130 stakeholders, including associations, local administrations, and universities. The proposal aims to establish an autonomous regional policy for peace, strengthen international cooperation, and promote global citizenship. The bill seeks to modernize existing frameworks by giving equal weight to peace and international cooperation in response to increasing global conflicts and humanitarian crises.
Simultaneously, the Puglia region has launched the ‘MICS - Migrazione Condivisa e Sostenibile’ project to draft a new Regional Plan for Migration Policies. This participatory process includes six territorial workshops across the provinces of Foggia, Trani, Bari, Taranto, Brindisi, and Lecce. The workshops will focus on four key pillars: labor policies, housing, health, and empowerment, aiming to collect strategic recommendations for the integration of migrants.
