Italy reports child sexual abuse case and kidnapping with sexual assault

In Reggio Emilia, a mother filed a criminal complaint after two children aged three and four displayed repeated sexualized behavior. The complaint alleges that authorities failed to intervene when the older child identified a possible perpetrator during a protected meeting on 27 February 2026, and that no protective measures were taken. The filing seeks an investigation into alleged omissions by public officials and calls for the identification of the suspected individual, as well as protective hearings for the minors.

In Lucca, police arrested a 31‑year‑old Romanian man accused of seizing a young couple in their home on 19 July, holding them hostage, and sexually assaulting the woman. The suspect was apprehended after a 112 emergency call, found carrying two concealed knives, and was transferred to custody in Prato pending further legal action.
