Italy reports fatal motorcycle crashes in Rosà and Ribera

On 27 July 2026, 27‑year‑old motorcyclist Thomas Modesti from Bassano del Grappa died after his bike collided with an automobile on Via Capitano Alessio in Rosà, Veneto. The crash threw him several metres, causing severe head injuries despite wearing a helmet. Emergency responders performed cardiac massage on‑site, but Modesti’s heart stopped after he was taken to San Bassiano hospital. Police seized both vehicles and opened a road‑homicide investigation.

Separately, 66‑year‑old American citizen Dominic Tortorici was killed in a solo crash on Via Imbornone in the town of Ribera, Sicily. The accident occurred at night on an empty road; despite wearing a helmet, Tortorici sustained fatal injuries and could not be saved after being taken to the Fratelli Parlapiano hospital. Local authorities are examining possible technical failure, sudden illness, or road conditions. His death adds to a recent series of motorcycle fatalities in the region, prompting renewed concern over rider safety.
