Italy reports two serious car crashes, one fatal and one with injuries

A collision on the Provinciale delle Vergini in Civitanova Marche early on July 3 required firefighters to extract a driver who was then taken to hospital; his condition has not been disclosed.

In Viterbo on July 2, 85‑year‑old Antonia Mercante was struck by a car near the Porta Romana railway station. She suffered a severe head injury and died in Santa Rosa Hospital after several hours in intensive care.
