Italy reports vandalism of speed camera and assaults on transport workers

In Macerata, local police have filed a complaint against unknown individuals following two separate incidents of vandalism targeting a speed check device in the Corneto district. The orange speed camera, installed on Via Cincinelli to monitor a 40 km/h zone, was uprooted and thrown into a ditch on the night of August 5. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators. The device remains out of service, though police plan to reinstall it after the San Giuliano celebrations and may use telelasers in the interim.

Separately, two incidents of aggression against Sita Sud employees have raised concerns regarding public transport safety along the coast. In Massa Lubrense, a bus driver was physically assaulted in the face by a passenger following a dispute over the vehicle's air conditioning. This followed an incident in Ravello the previous day, where a staff member required emergency medical attention due to a blood pressure spike after being subjected to verbal aggression while managing passenger queues.
