7-year-old rescued after A2 crash in Reggio Calabria

A severe crash on the Autostrada del Mediterraneo (A2) near Reggio Calabria caused a vehicle to overturn multiple times after striking a safety barrier. The accident threw a seven‑year‑old child from the car onto the road. A passing Carabinieri patrol, together with a civilian first‑responder from Latina, provided immediate aid, kept the child conscious, and coordinated with emergency services. Because ambulance transport would have been too slow, medical personnel rode on the Carabinieri’s service vehicle, allowing the child to reach the hospital within minutes. The boy is now in a guarded condition but not in danger of death. His mother, also injured, received medical care at the same facility. Traffic on the A2 was temporarily halted while the scene was secured and investigations began.
