Italy rowing teams excel at World University Championships
The Italian national rowing team has achieved strong results during the opening stages of the World University Rowing Championships held in London, Ontario, Canada.
The men’s eight secured a second-place finish in the lane assignment race, finishing just 0.79 seconds behind Great Britain. The crew features Guglielmo Melegari, a former Junior World Champion.
In other notable performances, Edoardo Rocchi won his men’s single sculls heat and qualified for the men’s double sculls final alongside Sebastiano Renzi. Sara Borghi has also advanced to the semifinals in the women’s single sculls.
Seven Italian crews have secured spots in Saturday's finals, including the men’s coxless four, the women’s coxless four, and the women’s double sculls. Additionally, the men’s coxless pair and the women’s coxless pair earned qualifying positions through high-ranking finishes.
