Italy school calendar and university admissions set for 2026/2027

The 2026/2027 academic year in Italy features staggered start dates across different regions. Schools in Bolzano will begin on September 7, while Puglia will be the last to reopen on September 17. Regions such as Sicily, Calabria, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, and Tuscany are scheduled to start on September 15.

In the university sector, the Ministry of University and Research has announced over 39,600 available spots for health profession degree programs. Admission tests for these courses are scheduled for September 16 and 17, 2026, with specific quotas allocated for EU and non-EU candidates.

Regional calendars also dictate varying end dates for the school year, ranging from early June in Emilia-Romagna to mid-June in Veneto and Bolzano. In Umbria, lessons are set to begin on September 14.
