Italy school staff updates: ATA economic positions and teacher ranking preferences

In Italy, administrative, technical, and auxiliary (ATA) school staff are seeing new economic positions reflected in their NoiPA portal accounts. The FeNSIR and SAATA unions have expressed satisfaction with this development, viewing it as a necessary recognition of the staff's role in maintaining school operations. However, SAATA National Secretary Gianluca Mangione noted that this is only a starting point, calling for further economic resources, a revision of selection criteria to include seniority and experience, and more inclusive structural growth to prevent disparities among staff.

Separately, the Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM) has opened the window for teachers to submit their 150 preferences for the Provincial Rankings for Substitutions (GPS) and Exhaustion Rankings (GaE). The application period runs from July 16 to July 29, 2026, via the Istanze Online portal. These preferences will determine teaching assignments for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 school years. The process is mandatory for those seeking first-time entry into the rankings and is critical for securing teaching roles.
