Italy search operations underway for two missing persons

Search operations are underway in Italy for two missing individuals in separate incidents.

In the province of Perugia, authorities are searching for an 80-year-old man from San Venanzo who has gone missing. The man, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, was last seen yesterday. His black Suzuki Jimny is also missing. Search efforts are concentrated in the Pietralunga area and include the Vigili del Fuoco, Carabinieri, Civil Protection, and specialized TAS and SAPR units using drones and helicopters. The Prefecture of Perugia is coordinating the response.

In the Anzasca Valley, rescue teams are searching for 63-year-old Lucio Zambonini, a resident of Vanzone con San Carlo. He was last heard from on Thursday morning after leaving for a fishing trip near the Mondelli stream in Ceppo Morelli. His vehicle was found parked in Mondelli. The search involves the Alpine Rescue, Guardia di Finanza, Vigili del Fuoco, and Carabinieri, utilizing helicopters, drones, and molecular detection dogs. Despite searches of local paths, woods, and riverbanks, no traces of him have been found.
