Italy seeks to protect Ducati amid Volkswagen industrial crisis

Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, met with Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali to discuss safeguarding the motorcycle manufacturer. The meeting aimed to establish a roadmap to protect the brand, which is considered a symbol of Italian industrial excellence.

Ducati is owned by the Volkswagen Group, which is currently facing a significant industrial crisis. Volkswagen has implemented adjustment plans that include substantial job cuts and potential changes to its brand portfolio. Reports indicate the group may reduce its workforce by up to 100,000 positions by 2030. The German automotive giant is navigating challenges including intense competition from Chinese manufacturers in Europe, declining sales in China, and United States tariffs.
