Marriage rates in Italy are seeing a notable resurgence among specific demographics, including Generation Z and individuals over 65. Data from Censis indicates that unions involving older adults have quintupled.

According to the First Look Report 2026 by the wedding services platform Zola, there is a growing trend of weddings being celebrated, including traditional religious ceremonies. This shift is observed across different age groups, from younger generations seeking stability to older populations seeking companionship.

While long-term projections suggest a potential 28% decrease in official unions by 2050, current trends show a high level of engagement in wedding celebrations and the associated fashion and preparation rituals.
