Italy sees rising demand for greenery in schools and cities
Recent surveys in Italy highlight a growing demand for increased greenery in both educational and urban environments. An investigation by Coldiretti and Censis, supported by CNR research, reveals that 86% of Italian school principals support the systematic introduction of plants in classrooms. This initiative aims to improve indoor air quality, lower temperatures, and enhance students' cognitive abilities and environmental awareness.
On a broader scale, the Pulsee Luce e Gas Index, conducted with NielsenIQ, shows a significant shift in public perception regarding urban nature. Awareness of green redevelopment projects in Italy's 13 metropolitan cities has more than doubled in 18 months, rising from 20% to 41%. Furthermore, 96% of Italians view trees and parks as a natural shield against heatwaves, and 89% of respondents believe local administrations deserve higher approval ratings when they invest in urban greenery.
